Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Phlox paniculata 'Blue Paradise' is a lovely, mildew-resistant cultivar from Piet Oudolf with spicy vanilla-clove fragrance from lavender-blue flowers on stems two to three feet tall. Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil with even moisture in full sun to part shade. Popular with hummingbirds and butterflies.
Brigitta considers this the best blue Phlox with subtle color changes as the flowers age our plants in the garden have stayed remarkably clean and flower for an exceptionally long time. ZONE 4
Among the bluest! Another one of the so-called 'changeling' phlox, whose flower color changes markedly according to differing light conditions. The flowers are a medium purple by day, but change to a bright violet-blue at dusk and dawn, and during cloudy days. In these conditions, it is the closest to true deep blue that I know of. Planting it in part shade will cause the deep color to linger longer through the day. Introduced by Piet Oudolf in 1990.
Blue, white ; red, these showy ; fragrant perennials produce their lavender-blue flowers with a white eye and red center from mid to late summer; great choice for cutting, hummingbirds, butterflies, or fragrance. Sun/Med
A particularly striking selection from Piet Oudolf. The coloring appears as a pure indigo blue in the morning or evening light, but in midday sun, takes on purplish tones. 3'.
