Flowers of an eye-catching dark!-violet on stalks up to 3' tall stand out among the rest on this hybrid of N. siberica x N. faassenii from Joanna Reed of Longview Farms in Pennsylvania. S/M/GDr
My husband and I met Joanna Reed years ago when we sold gardening books. She was one of those people you don't forget. When I saw this lovely blue catmint from her garden at Longview Farms in Malvern, PA that was named for her, I had to offer it. I knew it would be a special plant. Sure enough, according to a plant evaluation study done at the Chicago Botanic Garden "Lavender-blue-flowered Nepeta 'Joanna Reed' was one of the tidiest catmints in the trial because its stems did not flop and new growth quickly concealed the declining flower stems. At 24 inches tall and 48 inches wide, 'Joanna Reed' is a bushy catmint producing a wealth of flowers from mid-May through October." Iridescent dark violet tubular flowers that are much darker than other Nepetas, with aromatic gray-green foliage and an upright habit. A natural cross between N. sibirica and N. faassenii.

On a visit to Pennsylvania several years ago we had the wonderful opportunity to vist Joanna Reed and her lovely garden. It is with great pleasure that we are able to offer this lovely Catmint that was found in her garden and named in her honor. It is a natural cross between Nepeta siberica and Nepeta faassenii. The flowers are darker violet than other Nepetas, and it grows to be 3' tall.
