Walking through these mountains in late Spring, early Summer, you'd think that it was Winter when you come upon a huge boulder covered in white. It's not snow, its Sedum ternatum.
The succulent light-green leaves of Wild Stonecrop are covered with star-like white flowers in late spring and early summer. Less than a foot tall, it creeps rapidly to form a splendid groundcover in damp, rocky soils in light to medium shade. Sedum ternatum is native to the eastern and east-central U.S. Hardy to Zones 4 - 7.
Dark grey-green foliage and white flowers in May-June, with a low (4") spreading habit. A good choice for dry shade and rocky crevices.
