Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This fantastic 6-8' female selection is outstanding; noted for its heavy load of long-lasting fruit which is an intense red color. Wonderful, lustrous deep-green foliage adorns this suckering upright shrub and abundant tiny white blooms appear in late-spring. Foliage turns shades of gold and wine in the autumn. Southern Gentleman is the preferred pollinator and one is needed for every 8-10 females. S/M-W
Best known; many say the best winterberry.
Pollinated by 'Southern Gentleman'. A deciduous, multistemmed and rounded Ilex with lustrous dark green leaves. Intense bright red berries stay on the bush all through winter.

As above but shorter and notable for HEAVY FRUITING, bright 3/8"red fruit and good retention of the bright fruit color throughout winter. Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Gold Medal (Steyer Award) in 1995. Also a female that needs a Male Pollinator

Everyone should find a place for at least one of these plants. They go quietly unnoticed during the summer months, but scream from the borders during the winter. Great for birds, cut branches, wet areas.
