Noted for producing showy and especially large raspberry colored cones, even at a young age, these come are carried at the tips of the semi-pendulous branches (acro meaning at the end) in spring. Cones mature to tan by summer. Gorgeous dark-green needles decorate this is slow-growing 20' tree, which becomes more broad spreading with age. S/M
Picea abies 'Acrocona' - A Norway Spruce variety. Plant is a semi-dwarf upright. In spring plant has red 3" cones on every other stem on the very end. Cones hang down weighting the stem to make it look slightly weeping.
Originating around 1890 in Sweden this produces cones at the tips of the branches, it comes fairly true from seed and tip coneing forms can be found in the woods around Uppsala
Gray green foliage and compact form make this a good addition, but the red cones in spring make it very special.
