Carmine red buds open to pink flowers over purplish/bronzy foliage. Sold under the name Foliis Purpureis and Rhoni, but by any name, it's a winner! One of the oldest cultivars, it's stunning! All Weigela's are pretty in the spring BUT with the unique foliage, this is a winner all season and when mature develops great gnarly limbs and bark! This Award of Garden Merit shrub is about half the size of the species and only needs pruning about every three years.
