More delicate in appearance than the species with needles that hang down like long soft-green filaments from the reddish-brown stems. Maturing to a narrowly columnar tree (40-50't by 10-15'w) with a slightly weeping habit. Its outstanding auburn fall color is also a treat. An improved form of an already wonderful eastern United States native is adaptable to most garden sites and is a tough specimen able to handle wind and ice. S/M-W PPAF

Debonair is such a good name for this tree; I get the feeling of an old time movie star wrapping herself in a cape and twirling away. The tree can get to be 50' and narrow with orange fall color. zone 5

With a more delicate look than the species with needles that hang down like long green threads. Stems are reddish brown. The mature trees is smaller (relative, of course) than the species but still reaches 50 feet with a slightly weeping habit. This select form of a US East Coast Native forms a very tight, columnar plant. The fern like texture is beautiful and turns a beautiful russet orange in Fall. This improved form and is tolerant of a somewhat broader range of soils including well-drained and a bit hardier. Introduced by Earl Cully and the Morris Arboretum hence the original name! Vigorous, narrow form also withstands ice extremely well. PPAF
