Irregularly-spreading branches grow quite rapidly on this deciduous conifer. Each specimen develops its own unique character, making them excellent specimens for larger landscapes.
Eye-catching!, the branches of this upright tree spread every which way, downward as well as outward, at various angles and lengths; makes a handsome clumper. S/M
Larix decidua ' Varied Direction ' - This name could be an understatement! In fact, the vigorous, spreading habit of this deciduous plant produces robust twigs that propel the branches up and out, in—that's right—varied directions. Golden tan branches, covered with thick twigs, eventually arch down and cover the ground in a unique configuration for each plant. Bright green spring foliage changes to gold in autumn before needles fall. Selected by Dr. Sydney Waxman, University of Connecticut.
Often seen as L. decidua 'Varied Directions'. This most interesting hybrid developed by Dr. Sid Waxman has been described as L. x marschlinii by Jeff D. Bowman of the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in an article titled, "Plants & Garden News," Volume 16, Number 4, Winter 2001." Branches are both spreading and arching. It will grow wider than tall. This is a vigorous growing shrub with branches that angle off in various directions, eventually arching down. A fine garden specimen! Green in spring, golden in autumn and with artistically intricate branching for winter appeal.
