Nursery contributed plant descriptions

An interesting in all seasons, slow growing deciduous conifer with an irregular-globose habit, and somewhat flat top. Accustomed to extreme cold and a short growing season, this is one of the first to push soft, bright green spring growth. The leaves turn a beautiful yellow for autumn, and eventually fall to reveal the tufts of short branches that give this larch its winter interest. Acidic soils are preferred.
This billowing, slow-growing dwarf has wonderful rich-green foliage that emerges earlier than most larches. Bright golden copper color in autumn occurs later than most larches. The sculptural branching looks phenomenal in winter!
Dwarf Dahurian Larch a superb new form, this dwarf, deciduous conifer develops tufts of short branches that give it appeal in all seasons. In early spring, it is one of the first to push growth, programmed from its cold native habitat and short growing season to take full advantage of warming temperatures. The softly textured, light-green needles change to yellow in fall, and then drop to reveal the plant's many short stems for winter interest. Site the irregular, low plant in moist, light soil in a sunny rock garden. Prefers organic rich well-drained soil.
