Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Datisca cannabina is a weird and dramatic giant perennial known as false hemp found from the islands of the eastern Mediterranean to the Himalayas. It can reach 8 feet high and wide with arching, cane-like stems of bright green leaves, that while pinnate,
The long branches of this uncommon tree arch gracefully downward with their pendulous branchlets. With multiple leaders and an irregular habit this makes a wonderful and highly variable specimen. If staked this tree can reach up to 20' and if left to alone it will creep in all directions to form a gorgeous groundcover. It has beautiful bright-yellow color in autumn and is quite attractive even when leafless in winter. S-PSh/M
Larix decidua 'Pendula' - A weeping European Larch. A gray green bright colored long needles on a plant that needs staking for height. Will cover ground like ground cover if not staked. Found in literature since 1836.
Bright green new needles each spring, stake for height & shape. Fall color yellow to rust. Zones 3-8.
Unusual and beautiful, our form of this tree has exaggerated, pendulous branches reaching to the ground in a tight cascade. The soft textured needles are slightly glaucous and darker green on top. Can grow to 70' in height. Give it good moisture in a well drained and sunny location. Doesn't like shade. Not often available and highly desired by those who see our lovely specimen plant!
