Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This large elegant tree ?is one of the most remarkable of cool temperate trees? (Bean); branches are armed with stout prickles, deeply-lobed palmate leaves (up to 14"), and flat clusters of small white flowers. S/M
An excellent large tropical looking shade tree, hardy to zone four and reaching up to 90' in height, Flowers are typical of many members of the Araliaceae, white in small clusters grouped to form 2' terminal panicles which are displayed well above the foliage, and are loved by bees; fruits are a small black drupe which the birds quickly devour. The leaves are huge and Castor Bean-like hence the common name Castor Aralia, the genus is monotypic which automatically raises it several notches on the desirability scale, Does anyone know of a variegated form?
Native to eastern Asia, this tree is noted for its tropical looking, large, lobed leaves to 10" across. The trunk is spiny when young, but the spines disappear as the tree matures. Develops into an attractive, rounded tree growing 30-40' tall with equal width. Tiny white flowers appear in flat clusters in summer followed by tiny black fruit, quickly consumed by birds. Grow in fertile, moist soil and full sun.
