Skyrocket Juniper is a common variety that has been planted in landscapes for many years. The foliage is silvery blue throughout the entire year. Skyrocket is a narrower growing juniper and used to flank entryways or can be planted against the walls of tall buildings.
This is one of the narrowest conifers around, only 2' wide and 15' tall. It is quite blue and quoting Michael Dirr "reminds [one] of a blue rocket sitting on a launching pad." Rapid growing, it makes an excellent hedge which requires no pruning to keep it narrow. Other uses would be as an accent point in the garden with its strong vertical lines.
