An excellent choice for the beginning bonsai grower, Juniper is the most popular bonsai grown in the US. The evergreen leaves and low spreading branches make it an attractive bonsai specimen. It tolerates partial sun and outdoor growing conditions during the warm summer months. In winter, Juniper needs cool temperatures (under 60°F but above freezing) for its dormant period. Do not allow the soil to dry out completely. It's best to water every day. Prune as necessary to maintain an attractive shape. Shipped in a 6" glazed stoneware bonsai pot (assorted colors).
Junipers often get a bad rap for getting too big or suffering from browning foliage and dead branches. This is one juniper that behaves itself and just gets better with age, slowly forming an elegant mound that spreads sideways to form a beautiful evergreen groundcover. A beautiful solution for full sun and dry slopes, but will take moist (but not wet) soil as well. Also a favorite plant for bonsai.

Beautiful finely textured, bright soft green tiny needle-like foliage that tinges to blue, indigo, and purple in winter. Easily trained into Bonsai forms or allow it to spill over walls, on slopes, flowing over and between rocks, or as a beautiful softly textured evergreen groundcover that creates a dense carpet-like effect. Slow growing at first but gains ground quickly when mature. Fairly drought tolerant once well established. Item# 9449.
Graceful slow growing dwarf spreader. Our favorite groundcover type. Also frequently used in bonsai. 10" x 3-4' in ten years. Awards: Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. Recommended by: the United States National Arboretum.
