The unusual, late winter, ribbon-like golden blooms of this easy going native feature a red inner calyx and are deliciously fragrant; this vigorous shrub is found growing in the central and Southern United States usually growing to about 6' tall and suckering to form colonies 15' wide (remove suckers to contain the shrub if desired); vibrant yellow fall color only adds to its beauty. A multistemmed shrub, dense growing and can reach heights of 6-10'. They like moist soils, but well drained. They are pH adaptable, but like full sun to partial shade. The flowers are fragrant, and the plants will make an excellent informal hedge.
