The only variegated Disanthus, this 8-10' shrub known for its striking pink-to-crimson fall color also offers grey-green foliage showily edged and splashed with cream. PSh/M
A witch-hazel relative from Asia with gorgeous heart-shaped leaves with creamy white edging. Like its parent leaves turn stunning purple and red in fall. A wonderful woodland plant.
Disanthus cercidifolius is a fantastic witch-hazel relative from China and Japan. The species features beautiful heart-shaped leaves (similar to the redbuds, Cercis, hence the species name cercidifolius) that are a bluish-green throughout the season turning to beautiful dark red for fall. 'Ena Nishiki' adds beautiful white variegation to the foliage, and at times in the fall the color can be two-toned - pink on the edges darkening to red in the center. It prefers partial-shade and rich soil. Upright in youth, eventually becoming more broad spreading.
A lovely form of this already terrific plant its distinguishing feature is creamy white variegation of the green heart shaped leaves. Save one for me!
