Cryptomeria japonica 'Tansu' A dwarf green form of Japanese Cedar. Small little juvenile foliage that forms an upright conical plant. Very rigid and dainty. Introduced at Iseli nursery in 1982 first described as 'Yatsubusa'.
Tansu is among the smallest of the cryptomeria. It grows very slowly into a wide pyramid of dainty green needles. Takes some years to attain any size, reaching only 2-3? in ten years, but will never out grow it?s spot in the garden. Ideal for the low maintenance garden.

This miniature evergreen reminds one of a sea urchin with its textural spiny green foliage. Slow-growing, it ultimately forms a 15" mound, and therefore is good in troughs. Large 8-10" plants in 1 gallon pots
