Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Willy has nodding pale pink blooms up to 4" from mid to late spring. May repeat some in the late summer. Small Flowered Clematis. From Pieter Zwijnenburg, The Netherlands, 1971. This is a Group 1 (A) Clematis, which means it flowers in spring on buds from last year's growth. They actually don't need to be pruned but if you wish to trim or direct them the best time to prune is just after flowering. Trimming encourages branching and vigorous new growth. If pruned late in the season or before flowering in spring the plant will not be harmed, but spring bloom will be affected. Remove dead or damaged branches any time.
Has pale mauve-pink with a deeper pink at the base of each sepal. The stamens are cream. Grows up to 8'. A nice floriferous alpina.
