Clematis 'Vyvyan Pennell' is a confection of a clematis with violet blue, fully double flowers with reddish overtones in mid spring and early summer. The late summer bloom will produce single flowers. Plants will grow to 6-9 feet high. Pruning group B1.

Clematis Vyvyan Pennel will produce hefty double flowers in late spring and early summer on the old wood from the previous season. These first blooms are a mass of pinkish purple petals flaring out from the large center boss of stamens that is also impressive in itself packed full of cream colored filaments and anthers. The second blooms are single and appear in early fall on the new growth.
