Purple flowers long blooming
Clematis Jackmanii is possibly the best known Clematis in the world! The rich purple, 5 inch flowers appear in profusion in early summer and can keep coming all summer long! This fine selection is great as a specimen on a trellis or grown in combination with other plants like New Dawn Climbing Rose. Large Flower Type. Jackman, England, 1858. This is a Group 3 (C) Clematis, which means it flowers later in summer and into fall in colder climates. In warmer climates it may begin blooming much sooner. Group 3 Clematis form flowers on new growth each year, so for the best display and neatest look they should be pruned back hard each spring to about two feet off the ground or even less if desired. However, if you are training one of these into a tree or onto an overhead arbor they should be left much longer. Look for fat, healthy buds on sturdy canes and make your cut just above them. Remove dead or damaged branches any time.
Vigorous grower, large velvety purple flowers June-July. Prune to 24-36" Feb-Mar . Deciduous. Hardy to Zone 4.
Deep velvety purple flowers with a slight reddish flush at the base. A strong bloomer with flowers to 4-5" wide in late summer. [Group B, July - August, 8-10']
