A cute little miniature conifer with a rounded form. White tipped foliage in the spring and a fine, soft texture. Does well in containers and beds. Protect from the hottest summer sun.
White-tipped, soft feathery foliage makes it difficult to walk by without reaching down to pet it. A great choice for the rock garden.
The coloring is just lovely in the miniature garden - as the tips of the tiny foliage are a lovely cream color, turning into a beautiful gray-green color as you follow the branch towards the center of the shrub. Shear it in late winter to keep it in a tight ball and to encourage the white tips. Full sun brings out the white tips also. A very fun cypress! Creamy tips with rich grey-greens. Fun globe shape. Pretty coloring all year round. Growth rate less than 1"/yr. Zones 5-8, Cold Hardy to -20 °F. Heat Zones: 8-1. Full or part sun. Regular water. Shear in late winter to promote white tips. An outdoor plant.
CHAMAECYPARIS pisifera WHITE PYGMY Zones 5-8. On Bob and Sky's first Garden RR they planted a dwarf tree called Mikko Snow. The new growth is white and very striking. However it rapidly grew to 5 feet x 2 feet which was a bit large for their small scale scenes and they constantly have to trim it to look normal on their RR. Now they have White Pygmy which fills the need for a true miniature living snowball of white on green and maturing to less than 10" at 10 years. Perfect for all small scale scenes including Fairy Gardens, Garden Railroads, container gardens and as a striking accent in any landscape. Bob and Sky, at last, have their tiny white tree. You can too. Shipping size: 4". Growing hint: For best white color place White Pygmy in partial or filtered shade and keep moist in well drained soil.
Very tiny dwarf conifer -grows about 2" per year. New growth is white later turning more cream, then a pale green. Great for pots or troughs.
