Nursery contributed plant descriptions

?An outstanding, med-sized bush of dense conical habit? (Hillier) with steel-blue foliage soft to the touch; ?one of the most popular of all conifers and suitable even for the small garden? (Hillier). S/M.
Boulevard' Cypress is a fantastic dwarf shrub with beautiful icy-blue growing tips with silvery-green older leaves. The foliage is in juvenile form similar to a fir tree rather than scaled like other Cypress species which is why the plant is so soft to the touch. Plants are slow to medium growing and so require very little pruning or maintenance to keep a perfect form, which is evenly pyramidal. 'Boulevard' is extremely popular with bonsai enthusiasts or for garden sculpting because of its multi-colored foliage and shaping ability. Popularly used in Japanese Gardens where plants are frequently pruned into animals, patterns, or even mountains.
Dwarf Blue Tipped Cypress grows well in containers when planted in well drained soil, for best results use the growing mix recommended in Potting Soil Mix Recipes. Prune in the summer if needed or let the plant do its own thing. This variety adds incredible value to your landscape's color pallet especially if planted with even lower growing bright yellow plants nearby like Gold Mop Cypress.

Slow growing plants like this are often available in 4' pots as a cheaper alternative to one gallon plants. This size is ready to plant in the ground or grow on in containers, for best results you should pot 4' sized plants into at least a two gallon container and fertilize each spring with a slow release pellet such as Osmocote.
This fluffy, upright pyramid is a real eye-catcher. Year-round it has consistent blue-gray and white foliage. Makes an excellent, tightly sheared pyramid as well as an interesting topiary plant. If left unpruned, its conical, dense habit will produce mounded puffs off the side of the tree.
The boulevard cypress is a dense semi-dwarf evergreen with soft, silvery blue-green foliage that takes on a purple tinge in winter. Due to size, there will be an extra $10.00 handling charge.
Called the Boulvard Cypress. This variety has leaves that are blue and silver on a broad conical fast growing tree. Will grow into a "floppy" Christmas tree form. Plant can be pom-pomed. Found around 1934.
Pale blue upright column that is a knockout in the landscape. Young plants and new foliage show the color the most intense. Few conifers (or any other plants) can offer such an intense blue color in your garden. Grows 5-6? in ten years. Unpruned plants are slow growing, reaching only 12-15? after many years and developing more of a tree-like identity. Awards: Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. Recommended by: the Garden Clubs of America, & the United States National Arboretum.

Pyramidal with slightly curling, densely plumed, two-tone silver blue foliage. Will reach 6' tall in 10 years. Delightful color for the garden and beautiful in arrangements and wreaths. We have a hundred-foot row of 'Boulevard' which are more than 30 years old. They always attract attention.
