Stout, vertical branches first head out but then head up, giving a branch structure similar to that of a saguaro cactus. The congested, dark-green foliage adds textural interest to this narrow, fairly slow-growing conifer.
One of the best conversations pieces for the garden! This gem features beautiful silvery-blue foliage on an erect, columnular tree with dense and upright branches that truly remind you of the lovely Saguaro Cactus. The best thing about these is that no two trees will ever grow just alike! Each and every one will develop its own unique form and will range in size from 6-12' high and 3-6' wide. This really should be planted as a specimen where its unusual beauty can really have the spotlight. S/M
This beautiful conifer looks like a dark green saguaro cactus. It will grow outside the desert and be a real showstopper in the garden. These plants are grafted so are more expensive than cuttings, but are resistant to phytophera root rot.
One of the most unusual of the Port Orford varieties, Wissel's Saguaro has beautiful silver-blue needles and an upright, columnular trunk that supports a few thick and upright branches that give the whole tree the appearance of a Saguaro Cactus. Trees typically only grow two or three feet wide but should be given ample space in the landscape to showcase the unusual form. No two trees are exactly alike as each individual of this variety will develop its own unique form. Port Orford Cedars are in decline in their native range in Oregon due to the spread of a root rot fungus which is killing large numbers of trees. These trees are grafted onto rootstock that is resistant to this root rot fungus.
Narrow, upright evergreen conifer with deep, blue-green needles. It twists and turns as it grows providing a unique and interesting specimen. Perfect for the small garden or that narrow spot where you need an intriguing evergreen. Must have well-drained soil.
YES, saguaro like the cactus; this slow growing form has a branching structure that resembles its namesake. It has the same beautiful deep green foliage of the plant it sported from, 'Wisselii'. For the "Wild Side" gardener!
