Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Masses of intensely colorful, larger than usual, magenta-purple flowers cover the bare branches in spring before the highly glossy dark-green leaves appear. Attractive all summer long and turning pale-yellow in autumn. This lovely 12-18' tree/shrub was discovered in the wild in Oklahoma's Arbuckle Mountains. J.C. Raulston thought this selection "surpassed the Eastern Redbud in beauty"; a wonderful addition to any landscape! S-PSh/M
An upright, spreading tree. The thick glossy green leaves of this small tree turn yellow in the fall. In mid-spring, the tree will be covered in a profusion of deep magenta flowers. Growth Rate slow
Texas Redbuds are noted for their glossy, nearly wet looking leaves which are ruffled at the edges. Oklahoma grows small and shrubby, with large rosy magenta flowers appearing on bare stems just before the leaves emerge. 8' tall in ten years. 15 - 25' tall in old age. Discovered in the Arbuckle Mountains of Oklahoma in 1964.

Oklahoma Redbud not only puts on a stunning flower show in the spring, the summer leaves are large and glossy dark green. This is my favorite Redbud. zone 6
A wine-red flowering form of this small, southwest native. Thick glossy 2-3" blue-green leaves are rounded with downy leaf undersides. New growth is red tipped, and flowers appear abundantly on young trees--a splendid and joyous tree.
