This much cherished 20-30 foot tree is native to the woodlands and thickets of the northeastern United States. Masses of stunning pea-like magenta flowers on bare branches in spring are followed by long-lasting brown pods in fall. Pretty blue-green heart shaped leaves turn pale-yellow in fall; a much-loved favorite. Cercis is a nitrogen fixing plant. S-PSh/M
Eastern Redbud is a beautiful tree noted for its stunning pink blooms before the heart shaped foliage comes out. Great specimen tree that adds elegance to any space.
Very similar to Western Redbud but cold hardier, Eastern Redbud trees make a fantastic small tree or shrub because of their interesting heart-shaped foliage and good winter color on the stems. In the spring, bright colored blooms literally erupt out of the woody branches - both thin and thick - and cover the plant in blossoms. As soon as the flowers begin to fade, the leaves start to emerge.
These can be allowed to grow to their full size of around 12 feet tall or pruned as low as 48 inches. However, it will grow a little better with summer watering.
Widely adapted and often associated with Cornus florida in its native range. Bright pink flowers appear in the first warm days of spring; a delight after a long winter.
Seedlings from a weeping plant at gees it's too early to tell what the habit will be but none of them are flat to the ground.
Eastern Redbud (Columbus strain) has purple pink flowers that appear all over the tree in early spring. The flowers are even produced on large trunks. Redbud has a yellow fall color and is shade tolerant. Commonly used for grafting rootstock due to its hardiness
An East coast Native that is best known for it's pink pea-like flowers which bloom profusely on bare branches in early Spring. It's 3-5" heart shaped leaves turn an attractive yellow in fall. Keep Redbuds vigorous by regular watering, fertilization and by pruning out dead branches. Lives as an understory tree in the woods and woodland edges but blooms best in full sun. While not completely deer resistant, generally deer only want the buds and when the trees is taller, well...

Very appealing pale rose, pea-shaped flowers, bloom in abundance in early spring on what appear to be lifeless twigs. Then the delightfully rounded, heart-shaped leaves cover this beautiful tree through the summer. Most varieties turn a magnificent yellow in autumn.
