The handsome beech-look-alike hornbeams make a fine large hedge, especially this VERY select variety with its VERY narrow (to only 15' wide x 35' high) dense (and thus slow growing) habit. S-PSh/M
Great underused tree for planting strips and small gardens. Upright in habit, this hornbeam has small ovate, ridged leaves that emerge a soft medium green and turn yellow in the fall. Growth Rate medium
Similar to 'Fastigiata', but with slower growth habit and denser foliage. Its narrow columnar form grows to 40 ft. at maturity. The crispy serrated green leaves turn to gold in the fall, an attractive contrast to the smooth, gray bark.
This introduction from Holland has a darker green crown and narrower growth habit than the species, 30-35' x 15-18'. Fall color is brilliant on this more formal variety.
