Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Camellia japonica is a stunning specimen for milder gardens with glossy, dark-green, broadly elliptic, evergreen leaves accented with lovely, rose-like flowers in early spring. 'April Kiss' offers stunning mid pink to reddish pink, formal, double flowers. Grows 6-10 feet tall and 4-8 feet wide. It is a member of the April series all of which are hardier than other cultivars and should grow well down to zone 6. Camellias appreciate rich, acidic, moist, well-draining soils. Use in the light shady garden as an accent or specimen plant, in containers and as cut flowers. Somewhat deer resistant.
Bright rose-pink formal-double flowers cover this hardy 6-9' shrub from late winter into early spring. A much looked-forward-to gift each winter-spring! Glossy and lustrous evergreen foliage makes this shrub look beautiful year round; a wonderful specimen, hedge or part of a mixed border. PSh/M
