Lovely evergreen fern with arching leaves 10-12" long, like tongues but with heavily crested tips. Prefers alkaline soils that are moist and well drained in a shady location. Place it along a pathway or somewhere where it can be appreciated and admired! Z5
Displays tight rosettes of broad, shiny, tongue-like leaves, each with a crest at the end. Evergreen fern. Grow in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil and water regularly. Thrives in deep shade at the base of a wall or fence or in a woodland garden.
Glossy, wavy, bright green tongue-like fronds form a tight rosette and make a striking contrast and accent in the shade garden. It loves to grow among rocks where it is found in nature. The tips divide to produce distinctive spreading crests. Evergreen, 18 inches tall. This is a European form of Asplenium scolopendrium.
Hart's tongue fern makes a beautiful specimen with light green undissected foliage that looks like tongues, hence the common name. The fronds are roughly oriented in a vase shape making this a great achitectural plant for the front of shade border which contrasts well in form with other shade perennials.
The Harts Tongue Fern is shaped like a pointed evergreen 8-16" tongue - this variety, however, is covered with forkings ; rippling feathered crests in one plane; a rhizomatous clumper. PSh/Med(notwet)/GdDrain/lime
Semi-upright straped fronds are erect w/ heart shaped bases & attractively crested apexes. Plant in partial sun to medium shade in well drained, moist soil, responds well to basic soil w/ lime added. Zones 4 to 9. Size: 12” to 24”. Evergreen.
Hardy with a tropical look. Prefers lime-based soil. Happiest in shady spot. English origin. Although Aspleniums will perform fine in acid soils, they will appreciate a little lime or broken concrete mixed in with with annual topdressing.
A very delicate fern with arching 24" fronds. The ends of each frond as well as many side segments split into divisions creating a lovely crested look.

Very choice crested sporelings of the Hart's Tongue Fern. These are all variable from compact crested hummocks to free-flowing dendritic or antlered foliage. Thanks to the Fern madam, Judith jones for sharing these with us. We've picked our faves and we're sharing the rest.
