If I live to be a hundred, I will never forget walking behind the office of Bluebird Wholesale Nursery and coming face to face with a mature, blooming Aesculus parviflora. I had no idea what it was (a novice to shrubs then) and I thought it was the most beautiful, magnificent thing I had ever seen. I've seen it since at MOBOT, Ginter and the National Cathedral -- grand gardens all have it! And every time, when in bloom, it takes my breath away. Giant fluffy, white candelabra blooms with red anthers. East Coast Native.

Bottlebrush Buckeye. A bold deer-resistant plant for the summer landscape with palmate green foliage and erect white bottle brush flowers in June and July. Prefers a rich deep loam, growing to 8-12' tall and 15' wide. 18-24" plants for spring shipping.
A fine landscape selection! This 10' shrub with long leaflets bears bronze new growth that turns a buttery yellow in the fall. White flowers appear in midsummer held in upright panicles to 12" tall, accented by red tinted stamens and followed by small, chestnut-brown seeds. Though slow to establish, it's well worth it. Grows in the South as well as the West in both sunny and partly shady locations.
