Blooms all summer and well into fall…30-36” tall and 2-3’ wide – Full sun – lean, sandy soils are best (fertilizer not needed or wanted) – takes drying out between waterings – Great cut, fresh or dried in arrangements…long lasting. Attracts butterflies. USDA Zone 4 4 pot
Achillea is a semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial that grows 1-3 ft tall. It is a perfect choice for growing in a meadow garden mixed with native bunchgrass, Blue eyed grass, and other flowering perennials. The ferny foliage will stay green all year with some summer water. Blooms from March through June with flowers that are great for cutting. Trim back the spent flower stalks after blooming. Loved by butterflies and people, Yarrow spreads by rhizomes, a characteristic of a good slope stabilizer. CULTIVARS such as this are horticultural selections and hybrids, they do not play a part in the native ecology but work beautifully in a garden. Attracts Beneficial Insects, Bees, Butterflies & Other Insect that utilize nectar. Bred in Germany, this hybrid is member of the popular Galaxy Series, which was developed by crossing common yarrow (Achillea millefolium) with the yellow-flowered Achillea 'Taygetea'.
