Nursery contributed plant descriptions

An extremely upright Japanese Maple that grows in a narrow column shape similar to an Arborvitae, 'Tsukasa Silhouette' is a recent introduction to the United States with a very unusual form. It will typically grow to about 15 feet tall but only 4-5 feet wide with even sides. Many gardeners prune the sides to yield an even skinnier tree, sometimes as narrow as two feet in diameter.
'Tsukasa Silhouette' is heat tolerant and grows in hotter climates much better than other Japanese Maple varieties. We still recommend growing it where it will get some afternoon shade in warmer climates but it will take full sun with regular watering and a good layer of mulch around the roots (don't mulch it too deep, 2-3 inches of shredded or pebble bark is ideal).

Light-green foliage emerges a yellow-green with pink-tipped leaf edges. A beautiful, bushy and narrow tree with small leaves.
This slim, upright Japanese Maple is perfect for those small spaces. Cheerful lime green leaves in the spring turn a dark green through the summer then change to a brilliant red in the fall. A nice vertical accent, container plant or even a deciduous hedge.
One of the few narrow upright forms. Will reach 18-20 feet high and only be 4-5 feet wide. Bright green foliage throughout the season turning brilliant red in the fall. Great choice for narrow borders
Tsukasa Silhouette is an extremely upright, vigorous growing Japanese Maple reaching 18-20 feet tall and only 5 feet wide. Bright green spring foliage gives way to brilliant red fall color. A great tree for smaller areas.
A more recent introduction from Japan, it should be popular alone due to it's narrow upright form. Foliage is smaller and green, on stemms that grow with plenty of twigs.
PALMATUM, green. A narrow (to 4' wide and 10' tall in 10 years), small leafed tree. This very upright tree turns bright red in fall. Some say it will grow to 18' by 5'. This cultivar would be striking as a grove.
