Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Star-shaped foliage held out horizontally gives this sturdy 8-10' shrub a layered look, especially in spring when new leaves open bright yellow green and in fall when they turn to a striking golden-yellow-orange. S-PSh/M
‘Saoshika’ has star-shaped, bright green leaves. The thin delicate texture of the leaves makes them seem almost transparent. The leaves are held horizontally, making the plant seem layered.
The spring flush of this wonderful variety is reminiscent of something that would occur in autumn. Bright orange yellow that glows in a way unlike any other maple. Green for the summer then exploding again in fall with a wonderful golden yellow.
Saoshika has a green leaf much like that of Osakazuki, reddish in the spring, soon changing to green. The fall color is pure gold. The tree which is not tall (12') has a layered look. It is available in all sizes. The photo from Winch shows beautifully the broad ovate lobed leaves (my favorite shape) and the almost translucent yellow green spring color.
AMOENUM, green. The star shaped bright green foliage is rather thin with a delicate texture. The leaves are held out horizontally, making a layered effect in older portions of the plant. The new foliage is a bright yellow green, with the tips of the lobes tinged in red, gradually changing to a uniform light green and darkening as the summer advances. The fall color is a striking golden yellow. Not a strong upright grower but more of a tall, bushy shrub.
