Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A breathtaking small umbrella of lacy deeply-divided bright-red leaves is formed by this outstanding cultivar. PSh/M
This purple-red laceleaf Japanese maple has long, vigorous new shoots that reach outward like the arms of an octopus and produce a broad dome with an irregular circumference. Its deeply dissected leaves start out bright pink-red, darken to purple-red in early summer and bronze-red by early fall, changing to bright crimson red before leaf drop. Dissectum.
Unique growth habit with long, new shoots reaching out like the tentacles of an octopus. Spring color is pink-red with a slim green band down the middle of each lobe. Matures to a copper-red with a green tinge midrib. Crimson-red in fall.
This maple is really fantastic! Octopus is a beautiful red weeper. It is much different from other weeping varieties in that its arms will weep down and snake away from the tree like octopus arms!
DISSECTUM, red. With a name like 'Octopus', this cultivar must have many deeply divided lobes to each leaf, and of course it does. The fingers of each leaf are red and it covers itself with a mound of red beauty. A strong, irregular growing variety with red foliage turning brilliant fire engine red in the fall. New shoots can be quite long, giving it it's characteristic "octopus" effect.
