Dwarf Group -green - Kuri jishi means Crazy Lion in Japanese, and it is an appropriate name for this very unusual maple. The leaves are green turning yellow in the fall. Each leaf lobe rolls tightly inward and upward creating a delightful star shaped leaf. The habit is dense and bunchy and the plants grow as upright dwarfs, reaching 4-5' in ten years. Originated in Japan before 1882.

This cultivar has strongly incurved leaves and supposedly a vase shaped habit; but mine have a sort of drooping wide shape. The leaves are darker green than Okushimo which has a similar leaf form. zone 5.
DWARF, green. Deep green leaves have a star shaped appearance due to the incurved lobes, similar to 'Okushimo'. A slow, stiff, upright grower excellent for small gardens or container growing.
