Thick 7-deeply-lobed leaves open as a unique rusty-orange, change to deep-green and then to a bright fall crimson on this vigorously mounding 4-6' shrub. S-PSh/M
A slow-growing variety with greenish leaves, having a reddish blush. Fall color is a mix of gold and red.
Deeply divided leaves emerge bronze-red maturing to rich green in summer. Wonderful shades of yellow, orange, and red in fall. In hot summer areas give protection from afternoon sun. Named after Mt. Kurabu in Japan.
Kurabu yama is one of the lesser known palmatums; it is definitely a tree to maybe 15'; the leaves are deeply divided and come out a strange auburn color in spring changing to green and finally in fall to a wonderful show of orange, gold and scarlet.
MATSUMURAE, green. This green maple has leaves that are much thicker and heavier textured than most. Spring growth unfolds with a rusty-red appearance which changes to a rich, deep green. It is vigorous growing and becomes broad with age, with a spreading, shrub like habit. Very distinctive and known for its excellent fall color.
