Kamagata Japanese Maple is a dwarf variety, making it great for container gardens. With green leaves and red outlines, this cultivar makes a lasting impression. Kamagata Japanese Maple is a great addition to a rock or fairy garden because of its size. The fall colors are bright red.
Selected and named by J.D. Vertrees, this tiny (2-4') maple is delicate in appearance but not in its durable constitution; finely pointed, 5-lobed leaves are edged with red in spring and turn orangeyellow in fall. S-PSh/M
This tree is a dwarf selection of very delicate appearance. Small 3-5 lobed leaves are beautifully painted with red during the spring and early summer. Fall colors are brilliant shades of yellow and orange. Kamgata demands attention! This variety is also perfect for bonsai or container gardening.
Dwarf Group -green ? Kamagata is one of only two trees ever selected by J.D. Verrtees, America?s number one expert on Japanese maples. It is a dwarf (3? in ten years) with a delicate look, but it has proven itself tolerant to 0?F and has even performed well in sun and dry locations. Leaves are generally five lobed and widely separated like fingers. Each lobe is slightly toothed. The leaves are mainly a bright green, with red edges in spring and brilliant fall colors of yellow, orange, and occasionally some red tints. These plants grow very bushy and twiggy with lots of lacy side branching -eventually developing somewhat of a round shape.

An Almost Eden exclusive! This green-leaved Dwarf Japanese Maple has proven to be quite tolerant to shaping and pruning and the hot Southern Summers even in Full sun! Reliably provides fall colors of glowing orange, reds, and yellows, even in zone 8B. Reddish bronze new growth develops into a soft green. Our tree is kept pruned into a bowl-cut form and is about 8'H x 10-12'W.
Exceptional for smaller spaces, ornamental beds, and containers with very slow upright growth. Delicate leaves are green with red edges in spring. Beautiful light-green foliage in summer turns to glorious red or yellow color in fall!
Kamagata is a green leafed dwarf which appears fragile and delicate but is actually a hardy healthy cultivar; the leaves are small, long and irregularly lobed; it grows to a 4' x 4' mound holding its leaves long in the fall with golden and orange colors.
DWARF, green. One of the most fabulous introductions of all the palmatums, 'Kamagata' is a variety of A. palmatum selected by J. D. Vertrees. It is diminutive and bush-like in growth habit but in an open manner, creating a very small tree with the distinct branching usually found only on upright tree forms. Add to this green leaves with red margined detail. Though a dwarf cultivar, it grows vigorously when young. It's tolerant of full sun and dry conditions. Spectacular orange-red leaves in autumn. Excellent for bonsai.
