'Johnnie's Pink' is a delightful tree with leaves emerging bright pink in spring, slowly changing to a bronze red and fading to green for the summer. Fall colors are red and orange. This tree was introduced by H. Johnston from Alabama and was named after his wife, Johnnie. 'Johnnie's Pink' forms a small rounded shape eventually reaching 8 feet.
Acer palmatum 'Johnnie's Pink' - Spring Pink Japanese Maple Tree a small deciduous tree with a delicate branching habit. Small leaves emerge in shades of bright pink then darken to deep brown-red, before turning to medium green for summer. Fall color is orange to red Prefers sun/partial shade in well-drained soil.
In my next life, I am only going to sell trees with 'pink' or 'dwarf' in the name and I bet it's a grand success. Johnnie's pink is sort of pink in the spring, but then the leaves get brownish--no brown is a depressing word--how about 'mauve' and then green for the summer. Will stay under ten feet.
PALMATUM, red. Unusual and attractive semiglossy, bronze-red hawthornlike small leaves them turn bronze-green in summer. It is 5 lobed with the center lobe larger and longer than the other leaf lobes. Forms a round shrub. A rare plant.
