Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Jiro Shidare Japanese Maple has bright green foliage starting as a more upright tree when it's young and maturing into a weeping specimen reaching back to the ground from which it began. This cultivar makes a breathtaking show in the landscape. Jiro Shidare Japanese Maple is great for containers as well.
A lacy mushroom!, this 6-8' mound is formed by 7-9 lobed leaves widely spaced on slender cascading branches; green in summer, it turns to striking yellows and reds in fall. S-PSh/M
One of the only mounding (weeping) cultivars that is not a laceleaf. Yellow-green spring leaves turn green by summer. Fall color is reds and oranges. Juvenile braches are slightly upright, then weep downward as they age.
This very unique cascading form has smallish leaves emerging rose and green in spring turning bright green for the summer. The brilliant crimson fall coloration always puts on a show. This variety will need staked for height. On its own it will stay low to the ground.
As you can see from this photo, I have had this cultivar growing on the place for many years and until lately was spectacularly unimpressed. It struck me as pointless to have a weeping tree that had a palmate leaf, but this year I reexamined my jugdement and found it wrong. I waited for the leaves to fall so that you would see the structure of this lovely cultivar. As I mentioned the green leaf is small and regularly palmate.
PALMATUM, green. A cascading form with green leaves of medium size. As a young tree the plant is somewhat upright. As it matures, it begins to droop, sometimes all the way back down to the ground. It has a very lacy appearance and good fall color is a beautiful crimson-red.
