?One of the real gems of the dwarf group? (Vertrees), the TINY (to only 1/2 to 1"!) leaves, densely packed on delicate twigs, are orange-tinted in spring, light yellow-green all summer; eventually 4-6'; ?flower-viewing tapestry?
A rounded shrub or small tree with tiny 3-5 lobed green leaves. Fall color is yellow to orange. The Japanese name means "flower-viewing tapestry." Growth Rate slow
This rare dwarf is considered one of the smallest-leaved Japanese maples. Spring leaves emerge with orange-red margins, later taking on a yellow-green hue, turning golden-yellow in autumn. Very tight growth. In containers will grow less than 1 inch/year.
An excellent dwarf, Hanami is unfortunately difficult to propagate so we sometimes have years of Hanami drought. The leaves are tiny and come out pinkfringed in spring turning yellowy later on. If fertilized it can burst out with long twigs and will dwarfen back up only upon starvation. The pic from Michael Healy is a good representation.
DWARF, green. A delightful dwarf that has about the smallest palmatum leaf form. Light green leaves with orange-red tips appear in the spring, later turning light green or yellowish-green. Growth is slow and densely branched. Great for bonsai and rare in cultivation.
