This cultivar appeared from a witch's broom of the gorgeous 'Sango kaku'. This beauty is a dwarf reaching only 5-8', it keeps the spectacular coral-red bark just in a smaller package! Its 7-lobed leaves are pale-yellow edged in red in spring, lush green in summer and golden in fall. The diminutive size of the lovely maple lends itself to smaller gardens or containers. S-PSh/M
Outstanding smaller witches'-broom of landscape favorite 'Sango kaku,' retaining the spectacular coral-red bark of its parent. Spring leaves are green edged with red. Perfect for the small garden, ideal for containers. Incredible winter accent.
Fjellheim is a dwarf coral bark maple; it has all the problems (pseudomonas susceptible) and all the beauties of its full sized cousins, Sango kaku, Beni Kawa, Redwood, etc. As one would expect, it is twiggier and shorter, ideal for a small garden. zone 6.
PALMATUM, green. This spectacular dwarf keeps the bright red stems and leaf characteristics of its parent, 'Sango Kaku,' but it forms a much more compact and upright plant. A good choice where a mass of coral stems will brighten the winter scene. Will do well in a container.
