Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Sun tolerant and colorful all season, the leaves of this rounded 20' tree open burgundy-purple and hold that color until they become a flame of red-purple in fall; a fine, vigorous landscape tree. S/M
'Attraction', also known as Superbum, is a vigorous grower ultimately reaching a height of 15 feet in the landscape. Leaves emerge a bright red with a purplish hue that deepens in summer. Fall color is a bright crimson. Although 'Attraction' is as hardy as Bloodgood, its leaves may burn in hot sun. This cultivar was a chance seedling from Japan in 1970, imported into the Netherlands, and introduced into the United States a few years later by Maplewood Nursery.
PALMATUM, red. Syn. 'Superbum.' Deep maroon foliage holds its color through summer but will burn in the hot sun. A vigorous and hardy grower which would be a very good choice for your permanent landscaping plans.
