Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Some 75 years ago, Joseph Rock gathered seed from this elegant beauty in China's Szechwan kingdom. Elevated on stems that mimic a dancer's grace, the pendant flowers are richly colored in deep lilac shades. White-edged corollas enhance the large, short-spurred blooms above a pleasing foliar mound.
We grew this Columbine from seed collected in Tibet by our friend and Tibetan mycological expert Daniel Winkler. This is a slender and quietly charming species with muted soft purple flowers. Named for plant hunting explorer Joseph Rock, we have seen this ourselves in Yunnan growing in partly shaded moist slopes.
