Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Showy yellow flowers cover the vine in June nestled in round, eucalyptus-like foliage. Distinctive appearance! 8-12' x 3-5' (bushy) Minimum temperature: -40 °F
I make no secret of generally being a fan of non-invasive species of honeysuckles. While most vining types in the trade offer super-showy flowers, 'Kintzley's Ghost' offers something different: silvery eucalyptus-like bracts around the flower. The flowers themselves are certainly attractive, pale yellow clusters more typical of the shrub-types than the vines; but they are fairly small and not what I would call showy. The species is native throughout the Midwest. 'Kintzley's Ghost' was propagated by William "Ped" Kintzley at the Iowa State University (then College) greenhouses in the 1880's and passed on to family members who eventually brought it to Colorado in the 1960s. Introduced to the trade in 2006 as a Plant Select award winner.
The large showy "silver" bracts last all season (long after its yellow summer flowers) on this 6-12' vine; developed in the 1880's by Prof. Kintzley at Iowa State then passed down by family members; unique ; ornamental. S/M
Vigorous vine clothed with long lasting, circular bracts the size and color of silver dollars, subtending tubular yellow flowers. Propagated by William 'Ped Kintzley at the Iowa State University (then College) greenhouses in the 1880's and passed on to family members. Perennial woody vine. Garden loam. USDA zones 4-8 (has been grown up to 8,000').
