A cross between V. rhytidophyllum and V. lantana 'Mohican'. Multi-stemmed shrubs with flat umbellate trusses to 4" across. The creamy white flowers in April/May gives way to bright red berries which later change to glossy black. Wonderful, leathery, wrinkled, ovate-elliptic, 6" long dark green leaves are deciduous in colder zones but evergreen in the South.

Stately, richly textured shrub with deep green leaves that are practically evergreen most winters. Spectacular white bloom in spring with rich red berries through the summer and fall. A wonderful four season shrub hybridized at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. It provides an effect in the landscape similar to evergreen rhododendrons, and it is much more widely adaptable. Shrub. Easily established and long lived in most garden settings; needs shade or regular watering in dry sites; responds to fertilizing. USDA zones 4b-9 (up to 7,000').
