Nursery contributed plant descriptions

We love this fast growing vine for the multitures of violet and lavender flower trusses and glossy dark violet pots that follow. Early to bloom, it will cover trellises easily and will flower all summer! The dark green leaves are tinged with purple. Introduced into gardens from Egypt in 1818. Tolerates humid heat.
A vigorous mounding vine with dark burgundy foliage, amethyst flowers and showy dark violet bean pods in late summer. Very desirable annual for cold climates. Excellent in containers. Perennial in the South. Vine. Edible. Garden loam is best. USDA zones 7 and warmer; annual elsewhere.
