Nursery contributed plant descriptions

With evergreen, or shall we say evergray, extremely aromatic, spatulate, silver-gray foliage, this tough plant has large blue-violet and red-violet flowers all summer and a larger bloom than most sages. It's a good xeriscape plant, counteracts soil erosion, and is deer-resistant if not deer proof. It looks terrific in winter, even here in Western Oregon, and still looking great after being pounded by wind, rain, snow, ice.... I like its tan, textured, woody "trunklet" and branches. Woody perennial or shrub, 2-3' x 2-3,' mounding. Sharply draining soil is imperative. Minimum temperature: -20 °F
Low spreading sub shrubs 12-18 inch tall by up to 5 foot wide, spatulate gray hairy leaves, bright bluish violet flowers with exerted stamens, set between showy rose purple bracts packed in whorls on 6 inch spikes, one of the best shrubby Salvias. ZONE 6
Maybe the Queen of California Sages, this is surely one of California's loveliestand hardiest. It has intensely aromatic foliage and makes roughly 2' x 3' bushes with rosey pink flowers during the summer. Impeccable drainage - it would grow great in pure sand and full sun for example.
The intensely aromatic, evergreen foliage has great substance. Silver-green leaves set off persistent mauve bracts that surround the flowers. Shrubby perennial. Xeriscape. Well-drained loam or sandy soil. USDA zones 5-10.
