A Cistus introduction, a hybrid, between Myrtus communis 'Compacta' and M. communis 'Anne McDonald', showing compact growth, to only about 20” tall, with attractive, red-tinted stems and densely held leaves, also red-tinted on the undersides. Most useful for small hedges, specimens or topiary. Drought tolerant and free flowering in mid to late spring with white, 1/2 " flowers. Prefers well-drained, lean soil in full sun. Frost hardy in sun to about 15 °F, mid USDA zone 8.
