Nursery contributed plant descriptions

“Tropicalissimo” evergreen distinguished by its long, spiky leaves striped green, cream and black – an architectural ‘retro’ kinda look! Will slowly form a trunk in cooler areas, faster in warmer zones and can make a 12-15’ tree. In the PNW, maybe 4’ in five years and 2-3’ wide. Jut a nice specimen for sun to part shade in good soil with semi-regular water; also swell in pots.
Zn 9. Green foliage heavily striped with white.
Where it is hardy, Torbay Dazzler Grass Palm is actually a sub-tropical tree that grows 15-20' tall with an upright habit and, with age, will branch to produce several heads of gray green strap leaves edged in cream. For those of us who live in cold climates, we need to winter over this Cordyline in a cool greenhouse. We can always enjoy it's vertical lines in containers , expecting 2-3' of growth per season.
New for 2008. Dazzling foliage on this new introduction from New Zealand. Reaches tree-like size of 15 to 20' along the OR and CA coasts, though below 15 ºF it might freeze to the ground and resprout vigorously from the base. Great container plant for inside or out. Even summer moisture and bright light for best color. USDA zone 8. Will make you look 10 years younger.
