Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Trachycarpus latisectus, aka Windamere Palm, is formerly known as T. sikkimensis. The larger, vibrant fan leaves set this rare gem apart from the rest of it's genus. This palm is fairly new in cultivation so not many specimens exist outside of it's native range. When mature it will have a slender, bare trunk that sets it apart from others in it's Trachycarpus genus. This palm is one of the few in it's genus that can flourish in the warmer zones as well as the colder. This palm is rated for up to Zone 8.
A cold hardy palm good to Zone 8. This palm grows to 40 feet with a trunk diameter of 6". The leaves are fan shaped and light green. All trachys are medium to small hardy palms that are attractive in groups. To see a photo of a mature Trachycarpus latisectus go to http://www.pacsoa.org.au/palms/Trachycarpus/latisectus.html
