    Yucca 'Blue Boy' (Desmetiana Group) is an evergreen cactus / succulent with blue, green and purple foliage. In fall and summer cream and white flowers emerge. Features glaucous texture. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in winter. Does well in average, gritty, lean, rocky and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

    Displays rigid, sword-shaped leaves which are gray-green and powdery-blue low in the clump. The leaves then turn a dusky purple as they arch out. Swords turn more red in winter. Evergreen, Plant in any well-drained soil. Uses little water once established. Use in rock gardens, containers or mass plantings.

    Dressed in gray icy greens and powder blues with a dusky purple overlay, this handsome pastel-hued treasure exhibits a tough disposition. Rigid evergreen leaves with sharp pointed tips and fine-toothed margins craft a rounded barrel-like rosette that develops slowly, its amethyst coloration intensifying as the weather heats up. Waxy white pendulous flowers draped on stout panicles deliver late summer sparkle. Unfazed by mettlesome deer, drought, moisture and humidity, 'Blue Boy' can harmonize with Melianthus 'Antonow's Blue' and Festuca 'Superba'. Zone 7/8.

    A plant Sean knew at the Berkeley Botanic garden, now sometimes sold as Y. aloifolia 'Purpurea'. Leaves are somewhat soft and arching, green with purplish highlights in summer, turning more red in winter temperatures. Very tropical. To 4-6'. Sun to part sun and well-drained, lean soil with only occasional summer water once established. Frost hardy to 15 to 20 °F, mid USDA zone 8. An outstanding pot plant.
