    Cuttings of plants shared with us some years ago from Portland's Jane Platt, this is an old Portland, Oregon clone that can be seen there in a very large specimen, to 12 ft, in Laurelhurst Park. The foliage, to 3”, is camellia-like, a rich, very glossy, dark green, and the down-turned flowers are creamy and fragrant. Most attractive as an evergreen screen or hedge with gracefully layered branches. Accepts full sun but the texture is most delicate in dappled shade. Occasional summer water in dry climates. Frost hardy to the upper end of USDA zone 7.
